Drew Barrymore had mixed feelings when her daughter “licked a subway pole” as a kid.
On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the beloved talk show host sat down with Dexter: Original Sin stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Christian Slater. Barrymore kicked things off with a story about her recent trip to Starbucks, which quickly became a conversation about everyone’s favorite order from the coffee shop.
“It changes but right now I’m into an iced shaken espresso,” Gellar said, while Slater added, “I just like the protein boxes, the little two eggs. And they stopped making the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I was very upset.”
Gellar suspected that the sandwiches were discontinued because of “allergies.”
“By the way, we all ate dirt and strawberries and nuts and I feel like had less allergies back in the day,” Barrymore chimed in, before admitting, “My daughter licked a subway pole when she was a kid.”
While Barrymore said she was disgusted by her daughter’s actions at first, she quickly shrugged it off. “Antibodies,” she added.
Barrymore shares two children — Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10 — with her ex-husband Will Kopelman. Meanwhile, Gellar has a 15-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son with her longtime husband Freddie Prinze Jr., and Slater has a 23-year-old daughter, a 5-year-old daughter, and a 5-month-old son.
“Second child, you’re like, they fall on the ground at the park and I’m like, ‘Quick, five seconds. Get the snack, it’s the only one I have!’” Gellar joked, while Slater said, “That is how it is with a second child, isn’t it? You don’t worry as much.”
The two women then gushed over the thought of Slater doing nighttime duty with his new baby.
“You are the ‘it’ guy, the crush of everyone’s universe and now we’re all gonna be picturing you with the bottle and that’s gonna start a whole new fantasy,” Barrymore said.
