This awards season will be a tense race, but cable cutters will also get the chance to tune in live to the Oscars when they air on ABC in March 2025.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday that the Oscars will stream live on Hulu alongside the live ABC broadcast for the very first time. The stream will be available to all Hulu subscribers, and it will be available to rewatch beginning the next day.

The Academy is following the Golden Globes’ lead after the awards ceremony announced in March 2024 that they signed a five-year deal to broadcast the Golden Globes on CBS and stream the show live on Paramount+.
The Oscars will be hosted by Conan O’Brien, Emmy Award-winning comedian and former talk show host. This marks O’Brien’s first time hosting the awards show.
“America demanded it, and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars,” O’Brien said in a press release from the Academy.
“We are thrilled and honored to have the incomparable Conan O’Brien host the Oscars this year,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang in a joint statement. “He is the perfect person to help lead our global celebration of film with his brilliant humor, his love of movies, and his live TV expertise. His remarkable ability to connect with audiences will bring viewers together to do what the Oscars do best — honor the spectacular films and filmmakers of this year.”
O’Brien’s appointment came after several comedy stars reportedly turned down the opportunity, including Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney.
The Oscar nominations have yet to be announced, as voting ends Jan. 12, 2025. But the nominees will be shared Friday, Jan. 17, likely during a live broadcast.
The Oscars will air live on ABC and Hulu Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 7/6 C. The official red carpet live show will begin at 6:30/5:30c.
