Even The View can’t get through Thanksgiving without a little dysfunction. On this morning’s episode of the long-running daytime talk show, Joy Behar caused a commotion as she made Ana Navarro switch chairs with her.
When the co-hosts took their seats at the Hot Topics desk for the last time before their Thanksgiving break, Behar appeared to be shorter than everyone else.
“Why is Joy so little?” Alyssa Farah Griffin asked through laughter.
“I’m, like, in a hole over here,” Behar barked out, while Whoopi Goldberg joked, “It’s not the first time.”
After fiddling with her chair for a bit, Behar finally stood up and said, “I think it’s the wrong seat. That’s the wrong seat.” She then turned to Navarro’s chair and exclaimed, “That’s my seat!”
As the two women loudly swapped chairs, Goldberg — who was attempting to introduce the first segment of the day — playfully told Behar, “Come sit on my lap while I do this!”
But when Navarro sat down in her new seat, she quipped, “I don’t think it’s the chair, I think it’s your ass!”
This isn’t the first Thanksgiving episode of The View to derail Goldberg. Just last year, Navarro’s phone interrupted the moderator’s heartfelt message to Millennials opting to take solo trips over the holiday weekend instead of spending time with family.
“The only thing I want to remind people is that you never know when the last holiday will be. And so, if you don’t get home, call home because you —,” she said at the time, before the sound of someone’s phone cut her off.
Navarro eventually took responsibility for forgetting to mute her phone, giving Goldberg leeway to finish her initial thought.
“It’s important to remember that because you will find yourself sometimes in a position and you think, ‘Damn, I should’ve just…’ Don’t beat yourself up,” she said. “You can’t see the future. If you can get home and it’s a good situation, go home. And if you’re not able to, just call. I know it’s a pain in the behind but it takes two minutes and they’ll be happy to see you.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
