Live with Kelly and Mark got a sneak peek of the upcoming FOX special The Real Full Monty this morning, and Kelly Ripa was looking for more.
Anthony Anderson joined Ripa and Mark Consuelos to dish on the two-hour special featuring Anderson, as well as Chris Jones, Taye Diggs, Tyler Posey, Bruno Tonioli and James Van Der Beek, which is based on 1997’s The Full Monty.
“Me and those five guys are stripping butt naked in front of a live audience. That’s what’s to get your attention, but it’s to bring attention to cancer in men,” he said after a brief clip from the special was shown.
Per a FOX press release, the special is raising awareness for testicular, colorectal, and prostate cancer testing and research.
Ripa replied, “That’s a great way to bring awareness.”
Anderson quipped, “Yeah, right. Just get butt naked out there and put it in your face!”
Consuelos later asked if all six men are “all good dancers,” to which Anderson claimed, “A few of us are.”
“You would think Taye Diggs would be a great dancer. He’s not,” he teased. “All smoke and mirrors. He’s not that great. But he looks good.”
As for Jones, who Anderson noted is “like 6 foot 12 [and] plays for the Kansas City Chiefs,” he is “not light on his feet.”
Ripa added, “His center of gravity is off.”
Anderson continued, “And what’s crazy, I think they had to bring in extra material or some type of strange material for his thong. I mean the man is massive! He’s massive!… I mean massive in height and weight. Get your mind out of the gutter.”
Ripa joked, “I’m not hearing any problems with this show so far.”
According to Anderson, the special, which is choreographed by Mandy Moore, is a “great show,” which he called a “strip tease.”
“People call it a routine, but we strip,” he shared. “From the time the first beat of the music plays on stage and the lights pop on, we are shimmering and shaking.”
After Ripa exclaimed that “this can’t come soon enough,” Anderson reiterated that they “strip butt naked.”
Ripa teased, “Do you want to give us a preview here?”
Amid roaring applause, Anderson jokingly lifted his leg, though swiftly lowered it and said, “Stop it.”
Ripa added, “I mean, literally, you couldn’t have more clothes on! Those socks go all the way up to your thighs!”
Anderson hilariously confirmed, “Yes they do, because I figured you would ask me to try and get naked.”
