Rangers trade Jacob Trouba to Ducks to captain's divisive tenure

Jacob Trouba’s curtain call on Broadway has arrived.

The Rangers defenseman was traded to the Ducks on Friday, according to The Post’s Larry Brooks, ending a fractious months-long relationship between the captain and the team.

The return is not yet known.

The 30-year-old reportedly squashed a trade to the Red Wings over the summer and his $8 million cap hit over the next two seasons, coupled with a lifeless Rangers start made him a candidate to be shipped out once again.

Earlier in the day, The Post learned Trouba would not play against the Penguins on Friday night for the purposes of “roster management,” with Victor Mancini getting recalled from AHL Hartford to fill his spot.

Trouba’s trade could be just the first move by GM Chris Drury, who recently let the rest of the NHL know he’s open for business when it comes to his underachieving roster.

Over five-plus seasons with the Rangers, Trouba posted 31 goals and 136 points over 364 games, often dividing fans with borderline hits.
