Supreme Court to hear challenge on TikTok ban law

The Supreme Court will take up a challenge to a new law that could ban the popular social media app TikTok in the US, according to a brief order issued Wednesday.

The Justice Department and lawyers for TikTok and ByteDance, its China-based parent company, should be prepared to argue whether the ban passed by Congress violates the First Amendment, the Supreme Court said in the brief order.
