‘The View’: Sunny Hostin Thinks The Republican Party Will “Hurt The Working Class”

Sunny Hostin is not confident that the Republican Party will help the working class, despite working-class voters largely contributing to Donald Trump‘s victory.

On this morning’s episode of The View, Hostin agreed that Trump is the Republican Party, noting that voters should ask themselves why they are “so attracted” to a “convicted felon” and his Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk, who even warned that the president-elect’s fiscal policies would create “temporary hardships” for ordinary Americans.

“He’s not gonna have any temporary hardships,” Hostin pointed out, referring to Musk, who has a net worth of over $400 billion.

Hostin felt it was also time for Democrats to “do a little bit of this post-mortem” after Vice President Kamala Harris‘ loss to Trump.

“The Democratic Party has always been the party of the working class. It’s always been. If you look at all the policies, they’re for the people,” Hostin argued, before looking back on her own upbringing.

“I think even myself as someone who grew up in abject poverty, from the Bronx, my parents lived paycheck to paycheck, they had to decide whether or not they were gonna feed me or whether or not we were gonna have heat. I remember that,” she continued. “And I think I missed the boat in terms of realizing that there are so many Americans that still have that experience that I grew up with and that members of my family grew up with.”

Hostin then suggested she and other Democrats work their hardest to bring these struggling people back over to their party.

“Because I gotta tell you, I don’t think the Republican Party is not the party of the working class. I think they will hurt the working class,” she added. “And so it is up to most of us who remember how that feels or cares about that to reach out and say, ‘Come back, come back, we can help you.’ And I intend myself, what little I can do, to try to do that more.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
