Charlamagne tha God found himself on the receiving end of Whoopi Goldberg‘s ire on this morning’s episode of The View, forcing them to take a beat and hug it out before continuing with the heated segment.
It all started when the radio personality criticized President Joe Biden for pardoning his son from his federal tax and gun charges, despite his party running its campaign on the message that “no one is above the law.” The conversation ultimately turned into one about objectivity in politics when Goldberg refused to call out the POTUS for his last-minute decision.
“When it comes to political parties, if you pick a side — if you say you’re a Democrat or you say you’re a Republican — you refuse to be objective about anything,” Charlamagne argued, while Goldberg fired back, “But that’s not a monolith. Democrats are not a monolith.”
Charlamagne then asked, “Then why can’t you say when Democrats are wrong? And why can’t Republicans say when Republicans are wrong?”
However, Goldberg insisted that she has no problem saying when Democrats are wrong, noting that she even does it on The View.
But when she doubled down that Biden wasn’t wrong for pardoning his son, Charlamagne snapped, “Well, that’s ridiculous.”
The moderator’s inner fire came out when she heard her guest, prompting her to hit back, “No, you’re ridiculous!”
That’s when Charlamagne clarified what he had actually said. “I didn’t say you were ridiculous, Ms. Goldberg. I just think that’s ridiculous,” he explained, before Goldberg told him to come over to her seat and give her a kiss.
And that’s exactly what he did.
When Charlamagne returned to his seat, he stood firm on his belief that die-hard followers of both parties “refuse to be objective about the other party.” However, the other co-hosts told him that it wouldn’t be possible because the parties’ respective problems are “not balanced.”
